The Role of the Governing Body

The strength of our governing body is in the collective knowledge, experience and expertise of its members. The main roles of the governing body are:

1. To provide a strategic view

We help to decide the school’s strategy for improvement so that our children learn most effectively and achieve the highest standards they can.

2.  To act as a critical friend

We support and advise the headteacher and staff but we also monitor and evaluate the schools effectiveness by asking challenging questions.

3.  To ensure accountability

We are responsible for ensuring good quality education in the school. We are answerable to the children, parents, local community and the Local Authority for the performance of the school.
